iPhone App Review: Pocket Cocktails
So, I can kind of blame the wonderful developers of Pocket Cocktails for the hangover I had the day after my birthday. You see, Pocket Cocktails is an absolutely gorgeous drink recipe app for the iPhone. The interface is fun and retro, which is a big plus for me…but the real beauty lies in the recipes themselves. Each one features a painstakingly photographed drink to go along with the recipe, presumably so you know how the drink is supposed to …

iPhone App Review: Stanza
Ever since I got my first PDA, I have been a big fan of eBooks. I apparently have some kind of deep-seated fear about being stuck somewhere and bored to tears, and having a small library in my pocket goes a long way towards making me feel prepared for just about anything. So, when I was planning my switch over to the iPhone, one of the first things I was concerned about was the availability of a good eBook reader. …

iPhone App Review: Tweetie
I am an avid Twitter user, so one of the first apps I downloaded onto my iPhone was Twitteriffic. It’s a great program, but 9.99 for the Pro version seemed a little high. It also didn’t allow me to search, follow people (or unfollow them!) from the application, track trends, or load more than a certain number of tweets in my timeline. After that I tried Twittelator, Twinkle and TwitterFon, but none of them really did what I wanted them …

Review: Power Support AirJacket for iPhone 3G
The night we bought our iPhones, it was too late to go anywhere else in the mall and get cases for them. I was pretty nervous about carrying around my naked iPhone even until the next morning. I really like keeping my phone or my iPod in a case to make sure that it suffers the least amount of damage possible from daily use, keys in my purse or pocket, or (heaven forbid) even dropping it on the very rare …

iPhone Wrap-Up: Week One with the Preciousss
So, the 31 iPhone posts didn’t exactly pan out as planned. My husband and I had some real life stuff crop up that was just more important than the Internet, and I’ve been on a big project at work that has required a lot of time dedicated to it. But despite the lack of posting, the countdown to iPhone was still going on. We sent each other emails throughout the month of August…”25 days until iPhone!” “Two weeks until we …

Windows XP and the eeePC – Fab or Flop?
I love Linux. It’s so customizable, and I love the fact that it’s open-source. But let’s face it–the business community has yet to embrace Linux with open arms. Many of the things I do for work, whether it’s editing or creating a templatized document, or doing a quality check on a web-based training course, require Windows (or at the very least, Microsoft products such as Office). It is frustrating, considering the only place I run Windows is at the office. …

Daily Driver Review: T-Mobile Wing
My beloved (but sometimes also hated) i-mate JAQ3 must have heard through the grapevine that it’s getting replaced with an iPhone, because last week it decided to give up the ghost completely. The poor thing has given me a good year and a half of hard use, so I really can’t blame it for wanting to go toe up. I was bemoaning its loss and trying to figure out what to do in the meantime, since my husband is using …
