So here’s a 1-month update:

I’ve had one glitch where the 2.4GHz stuff stopped responding. My parents-in-law were here (both with their laptops) and my wife got her new laptop. The G network went a little nuts. I hard-reset the router (look up 30/30/30) and reconfigured it. After that, we had no problem with my FIL who broadcasted streaming video podcasts, my normal heavy usage, my wife and MIL’s browsing / video streaming, and vonage.

I had to force my laptop to auto-connect to the 5GHz band, since it didn’t want to do it automatically.

I’m quite pleased.

I wouldn’t hold out for ADSL, and I’m not sure I’d want to tie my router/WAP to my connection. If I get pissed off at TW, I could keep my same router for AT&T or FiOS or whomever.

Would love to hear how this goes over the longer term. I want the dual band to try and overcome interference from wireless speakers. Just a bit weary of the newer technology, after spending big on early Netgear N equipment only to have nothing but trouble with it.

Sorta waiting for a version with an ADSL modem built in. My “networking centre” already looks like a birds nest with power, ethernet and phone cords for router, VoIP, network storage and back to base alarm system.
